Finding and exporting your Amplitude data
Amplitude displays event usage rather than a storage total. Measure existing S3 or Snowflake output for bytes, and distinguish recent monthly usage from all retained events.

What it holds
Amplitude stores product events with timestamps, user or device references and event properties. Those records can show sequences of product interactions within the available retention period.
Where Amplitude shows the size
- As an admin or manager, open Settings > Organization settings > Projects and inspect Events This Month and Events Last Month for each project.
- Check Organization Settings > Plans & Billing for the monthly allowance.
- For storage volume, measure Amplitude files in S3, tables in Snowflake or downloaded raw-export archives.
Plan and admin role. Admins and managers can configure project settings and destinations; viewers and members have more limited project visibility. Billing controls belong to admins and the plan purchaser, and history availability depends on the subscription.
Exporting the full history
- In Amplitude Data, open Catalog > Destinations and configure Amazon S3 or Snowflake.
- Request a manual backfill for the retained date range; in Snowflake integration settings, use Export Data and select dates.
- For API pulls, specify start and end hours and split requests into at most 365-day windows, using smaller slices when volume approaches the 4 GB response limit.
The Export API produces zipped newline-delimited event JSON and typically trails ingestion by about two hours. Chart CSVs, limited to roughly 10,000 rows, are not full raw exports.
Plan limits provide one year of data access on Free, two on Plus and unlimited access on Growth/Enterprise, subject to retention settings and contract terms.
Manual S3 backfills have no stated size or date-range cap and target about five million events per hour. Snowflake backfills may take a day to several weeks.
You don't need to run an export to talk to us, and there's no need to clean it first — removing personal data is part of our work.
