Finding and exporting your BambooHR data

What it holds

BambooHR contains employee profiles, employment dates and personnel documents. Time-tracking and other subscribed features add attendance or related workforce records.

Where BambooHR shows the size

1. Sign in as Account Owner or an admin whose access level covers the full employee population.
2. Open Reports > Custom Reports; use My Reports or Company Reports to create or find the employee report.
3. Include employee number, status and hire/termination dates, include inactive staff, and count unique employee numbers.
4. If time tracking is enabled, run Timesheet Entries across the complete period and count entries.

Plan and admin role. Account Owner or suitably authorised admin access is needed for full-population reporting. Non-admin saved-report visibility and API results remain restricted by access level.

Exporting the full history

1. In a report, choose More in the upper-right corner and export CSV or Excel; PDF is also available.
2. For broader employee and candidate export, have the Account Owner check the signed-in Help Center or support for the current account-export workflow.
3. Retrieve employee documents separately from the profile Documents tab; for repeated reporting, paginate the Get Report by ID API.

Report exports contain selected fields, not all personnel documents. Get Report by ID returns JSON with up to 1,000 records per page and respects report filters.

The older Get Company Report endpoint is deprecated; do not build a new archive workflow around it.

Only record counts are needed for a data inventory. Individual HR files, salaries, bank details, tax identifiers and identity documents are excluded from licensing; any internal preservation archive must remain private and access-controlled.

You don't need to run an export to talk to us, and there's no need to clean it first — removing personal data is part of our work.
