What it holds
BigCommerce contains orders, customers and catalogue records. Export templates select subsets of the fields available for each data type.
Where BigCommerce shows the size
- Confirm Manage Orders and Export Orders permissions.
- Open Orders > Export Orders and select the Default template with CSV output.
- Generate the file and count unique Order IDs, not raw rows.
Plan and admin role. Order export requires Manage Orders and Export Orders. Manage Export Templates is additionally required to create or edit export templates.
Exporting the full history
- Open Orders > Export Orders, select a template and format; for more than 1,000 orders, select Save export to the server for later download?.
- Choose Continue > Start export > Download my Orders file.
- Export products from Products > Export and customers separately; use Bulk Edit where available for broad field coverage.
- For additional columns, copy Default under Settings > Export templates and edit the copy.
Order output supports CSV or XML but includes only template-selected fields. Server-saved exports appear in the WebDAV exports folder.
Control-panel order export is not a re-import mechanism; importing orders requires the API.
