What it holds
Egnyte stores shared company files and private user folders, including retained file versions. Folder paths, permissions and activity records provide additional context, although a file copy alone does not capture all of it.
Where Egnyte shows the size
- Sign in to the Egnyte web interface as an admin.
- Open Reports from the menu and choose the Storage tab on the Dashboard for space used, growth and private folder sizes.
- For a breakdown, run the Folder Size Report under Storage Reports on the folders in scope. The download lists current size, size including all versions, and file counts.
Plan and admin role. Admins. Power Users can run the Folder Size Report only if they've been given the reporting role.
Exporting the full history
- For large volumes, connect the Egnyte Desktop App and sync each folder for offline use, or copy from the mounted drive.
- For smaller sets, select files and folders in the web interface and download. You can include all versions and subfolders.
Web ZIP downloads stop at 10,000 files, 10 GB and 50,000 folders. Single files can be up to 100 GB from the web.
You don't need to run an export to talk to us, and there's no need to clean it first — removing personal data is part of our work.
