Finding and exporting your Linear data

The workspace export is the most direct route to an issue total. Include private teams when authorized, then count the CSV’s issue rows rather than relying on capped view exports.

What it holds

Linear issues carry descriptions, ownership, priorities, labels and links to projects or cycles. Discussion threads and linked attachments add detail beyond the workspace CSV’s issue fields.

Where Linear shows the size

  1. As a workspace admin, open Settings > Administration > Import Export; Enterprise requires an owner instead.
  2. Enable private teams if they belong in scope and select Export data.
  3. Count the issue rows in the emailed CSV, excluding its header.

Plan and admin role. Workspace exports require an admin, or an owner on Enterprise. Guests cannot export. Free-plan exports are restricted to 250 issues.

Exporting the full history

  1. Start Export data from Settings > Administration > Import Export, including the authorized private teams.
  2. Download the emailed CSV within 12 hours.
  3. Use the Linear API to obtain issue comments and collect attachment files separately.

The workspace CSV supplies 23 fields, including descriptions, state, priority, project, assignee, labels, cycle, parent issue and dates; its documented fields do not include comments.

Attachments are not bundled, although descriptions may contain links.

Exports from individual views stop at 250 issues for members or 2,000 for admins.
