What it holds

monday.com boards capture work as items with team-defined columns for ownership, progress and dates. Item updates preserve discussion about the work, while board files and workdocs hold supporting material.

Where monday.com shows the size

  1. As an admin, open your profile menu > Administration > General > Account.
  2. Find Export account data and generate the account archive.
  3. Add item-row counts from the board files inside the ZIP, excluding header rows.

Plan and admin role. Account administration and account exports require an admin. Exports can run once per 24 hours, and each run notifies every account admin.

Exporting the full history

  1. In Administration > General > Account, choose Export under Export account data.
  2. Keep files enabled for the more complete archive; use the skip-files option only when files are intentionally out of scope.
  3. Download the emailed ZIP within 24 hours of the email; preparation can itself take up to 24 hours.
  4. Export workdocs separately as PDF before relying on the account archive.

Shareable and private boards are included, but archived boards and workdocs are not supported in the account export.

Individual boards can also be exported to Excel. The API can retrieve boards, items and column values.

You don't need to run an export to talk to us, and there's no need to clean it first — removing personal data is part of our work.
