Finding and exporting your TikTok data

TikTok supplies account data but no storage meter. Use the profile video count as a file inventory and measure separately retained footage if a byte total is needed.

What it holds

TikTok holds posted short videos and associated account activity. Its downloadable account-data file should not be treated as an archive of original footage.

Where TikTok shows the size

  1. Open the company account in the app and go to Profile.
  2. Count posted videos and identify the earliest relevant upload.
  3. If original media files are retained elsewhere, measure that collection separately; do not use the account-data download size as video-library storage.

Plan and admin role. Each account holder requests their own export from inside the signed-in TikTok account. Repeat the process for additional company accounts.

Exporting the full history

  1. Open Profile > Menu > Settings and privacy > Account > Download your data.
  2. Select information categories, choose JSON or TXT and submit the request.
  3. Monitor Download data and retrieve the prepared file within its four-day availability window. Keep original footage through a separate media-retention workflow.

The documented JSON/TXT download is account data, not a guaranteed copy of video files.

Some categories can omit the most recent 24–48 hours. Information affecting other people’s privacy may be excluded.

A posted-video file count and an account-data archive size describe different things; label them separately.
