Finding and exporting your Trello data
Trello does not offer a consolidated card or storage counter. Count cards in exports, including archived cards where needed, and distinguish the richer Workspace export from limited board-level files.

What it holds
Trello boards organize cards into workflow lists with descriptions, comments and attachments. Board actions record changes and movement, although exported action history is capped.
Where Trello shows the size
- On Premium or Enterprise, sign in as a Workspace admin and open the Workspace from Trello home, then Settings > Export.
- Create an export including archived cards and count card rows across its board files. Verify archived coverage rather than using a standalone board CSV.
- On Free or Standard, open each board’s Print, Export, and Share menu, export JSON, and count its cards.
Plan and admin role. Workspace exports require a Workspace admin on Premium or Enterprise. Any board member can export board JSON on any plan; board CSV requires Premium or Enterprise.
Exporting the full history
- As a qualifying Workspace admin, open Workspace > Settings > Export and create a new export.
- Include archived cards and enable Include raw attachments to package the actual files.
- Download the ZIP containing each board in both CSV and JSON form. On lower plans, collect board JSON files individually.
- Move Inbox cards onto a board before exporting them.
Board JSON retains only the latest 1,000 actions, including comments, so older discussion may be missing.
Standalone board CSV omits comments and archived cards; Workspace exports can include archived cards.
Attachments are normally references to Trello-hosted files unless raw attachments are explicitly included in a Workspace export.
You don't need to run an export to talk to us, and there's no need to clean it first — removing personal data is part of our work.
