Finding and exporting your YouTube data
YouTube Studio lists uploaded content but has no total channel-storage meter. Downloading the channel through Takeout provides a measurable archive, with media format depending on availability.

What it holds
YouTube channels retain uploaded videos and related channel information. Public visibility does not define the entire collection, since retained private and unlisted uploads may also belong to the channel.
Where YouTube shows the size
- Sign in as the owning Google account and switch to the relevant Brand Account if necessary.
- Open YouTube Studio > Content to review uploads.
- Create a Takeout export and combine all archive-part sizes for a storage measurement.
Plan and admin role. Use the channel-owning account or the Brand Account associated with the uploads. Takeout only exports videos uploaded by the selected account.
Exporting the full history
- Open Google Takeout in the correct account or Brand Account.
- Clear other products, select YouTube with videos included, and choose ZIP or TGZ with parts up to 50 GB.
- Create the archive and retrieve every part through the emailed link before expiry.
Takeout may return original upload formats or H.264/AAC MP4 files. It is preferable to assuming every Studio download matches the uploaded original.
Takeout links usually last seven days and allow five downloads per archive.
Studio individual downloads are 720p or 360p MP4 and limited to five per video per 24 hours. Removed videos, strike-affected videos and some preapproved-audio videos cannot be downloaded this way.
You don't need to run an export to talk to us, and there's no need to clean it first — removing personal data is part of our work.
