Finding and exporting your Zoom data

What it holds

Zoom can retain meeting video, separate audio, chat files and generated transcripts. Recordings saved on a participant’s computer form a separate archive from cloud recordings.

Where Zoom shows the size

1. As an owner or admin, open Account Management > Reports > Cloud Recording to inspect storage by date or host. Export each relevant view to CSV; a view spans up to 30 days within the preceding six months.
2. Open Account Management > Recording and Transcript Management > Recordings and export the recording inventory across hosts and dates.
3. Obtain start and end times from the cloud recording API, or measure GB per hour in representative recordings and divide total GB by that ratio.

Plan and admin role. Account owner or administrator privileges are required for both cloud recording reports and account-wide recording management.

Exporting the full history

1. In Recording and Transcript Management, save a CSV inventory covering the required hosts and dates.
2. Open each recording and download its available files. For a large collection, use the cloud recording API with an administrative scope such as recording:read:admin and retrieve the file download URLs.
3. Gather device recordings separately from each host’s Documents/Zoom folder.

Downloads may contain MP4, M4A, TXT and VTT files; transcripts require cloud audio transcription to have been enabled when recording occurred.

The documented portal workflow downloads individual recordings, rather than the whole archive at once.

With recording trash enabled, deleted cloud files are generally recoverable for 30 days.

Cloud capacity is pooled: Pro and Business provide 10 GB per licensed user, Business Plus 15 GB, and Enterprise unlimited storage.

You don't need to run an export to talk to us, and there's no need to clean it first — removing personal data is part of our work.
